Joy Brown joins the VITA team as a first-year Public Ally through our Los Angeles partner organization: CDTech. She is currently in her third year at Los Angeles Trade Tech, double majoring in Sociology and Community Planning and Development. Smart, resourceful, and dedicated, Joy is a wonderful addition to the Haven family!

Born and raised in North Long Beach, Joy grew up in a low-income household, an experience that inspired her passion for community service. Now a single mother of three herself, she’s spent the last decade raising her family in South LA, where her commitment to creating a lasting legacy for her children fuels her drive for social justice. After completing her studies, Joy aims to establish a nonprofit focused on introducing arts programs to low-income communities in the near future, providing positive alternatives and reducing gang violence.

Joy’s warm spirit, attention to detail, and dedication to helping others make her a perfect fit for the VITA team. She is excited to engage with the community and looks forward to making a meaningful impact through financial literacy and tax services.
