Oscar Garcia

Intern

Oscar Garcia is deeply committed to advancing education, healthcare access, and personal growth for
underserved communities. Having grown up in Downtown and South Central, he witnessed
firsthand the challenges many Angelenos face in accessing healthcare, food security, financial stability, and educational opportunities.

He previously worked as a care coordinator where he supported residents of Skid Row and
MacArthur Park by helping them connect with essential services & resources. Today, he supports
formerly incarcerated individuals, students, and residents in strengthening community
connections with the support of Impact LA’s food distribution program.

This year, Oscar is expanding his financial literacy skills as part of his ongoing commitment to
empowering and educating students throughout the county. By the time he completes his term, he
will have earned an associates in Community Planning & Development. He’ll continue his
education and obtain the necessary medical credentials to become a Lead Care Manager.

Outside of the professional and academics, he enjoys studying history, thrifting, traveling, and exploring LA.
